In 1981 I was a guest of Leyland Vehicles and Williams F1 at the Monaco Grand Prix. Thanks to a 'go anywhere' pass sorted by my friend Alan Jones I walked the entire circuit and managed to get some great photos as AJ struggled with faulty fuel pump and grimly hung on for second place.
Having just walked up from La Rascasse and running low on film, I saw FW07 #1 approaching the right-hander leading onto Pit Straight out of the corner of my eye.
I was standing right at the armco, pulled up my camera, focussed somewhere near where I thought he'd be and, with a prayer to the focus god, pressed the shutter!
It goes without saying, I'm thrilled with the result. It captures all the color and excitement of the fabulous race through the streets of Monaco.
