When I retired in 2006 and moved back to
Australia many of my friends on both sides of the Pacific Ocean were amazed
that I would hand back my precious Green Card, for a life on the Queensland
Gold Coast.
Cute as the squirrels and deer are, I told them all;
“Twelve North
American winters, is eleven too many.”
So here it is a couple of weeks after
Thanksgiving and in my old state of Michigan, the snow and ice abound.
It’s
been snowing seriously since the weekend, and to highlight the contast here are
some suitable photos from our family albums taken in both jurisdictions.
I enjoyed a great welcome, warmth and friendliness, memorable experiences and made many good friends during a 12 year working stint in New Jersey and
Michigan, but I’m afraid it’s 'no to snow, replaced by fun in the sun'.
