2019 AUSTRALIAN F1 GP - DANIEL'S HOPES DASHED

There was no good karma for Daniel Ricciardo in Melbourne at all this weekend. He struggled to get top performance from his Renault; started mid-pack, and barely made it past the start line.

Switching to the right side of the track after the lights went out, Danny's race was done. He was side-by-side with Sergio Perez, then bang! Out on the grass he hit some sort of drain or culvert, which was impossible to see from his low driving position, and next thing the front wing parted company with the race car.

Wingless he limped back to the pits for a replacement - but that didn't last and the car was parked in the Renault garage.

Interviewed after the race he was still smiling, relaxed about the incident, but looked like a man desperate for some good karma - soon.

Big congratulations to Valtieri Bottas - a GREAT drive, and a well deserved win.
