In an unusual marketing move, VWAG has decided to launch the Jetta as a ‘Brand’ rather than just a ‘model’ in the VW lineup.

The JETTA will seek to lure young Chinese first car buyers with a sedan and two SUVs, simply badged as JETTA.

Although VW’s overall Chinese sales were down 2% last year, China remains VW’s biggest market, and the company says it sees a big growth opportunity by introducing buyers who have previously never owned a car, to one of its key models, launched independently as a separate brand.
